Job Description: Business Coach with DE&I Experience (contract position)

We assist economic development organizations, the public sector and social equity agencies to create and implement inclusive entrepreneurship and workforce programs to cultivate diversity and trailblaze pathways toward race equity, social and economic justice for communities to benefit people of color, immigrants, refugees and the underserved. Through program development, entrepreneurship coaching, training, career consulting and linguistic services, we help transform communities to foster welcoming and vibrant economies.
Global Entrepreneurship Business Lab (GEBL) seeks experienced Business Coaches, with a background in economic inclusion to provide confidential small business coaching on general and specific aspects of starting a new venture or growing a business for Michigan and US based businesses owned by people of color, underserved entrepreneurs or businesses in geographically disadvantaged areas (GDA’s) and micro-businesses. Contractor will provide business coaching as the primary scope of work with administrative and program support as needed to deploy entrepreneurship inclusion programs with the goal of increasing equity by supporting minorities and underserved populations whose entrepreneurship journey is hindered while under the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) threshold as well as non-English speaking residents. The programs emphasize assistance to underrepresented populations including people of color, women, individuals with disabilities, military veterans, racial or ethnic minority groups, refugees, and rural communities as distinctive to each region. The programs work with individuals across a wide range of industries along with businesses who were negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hours vary upon the project and program. Expected hours for a single program is approximately 15-25 hours per week. There may be flexibility on increasing hours through assignment of overlapping programs and additional responsibilities that may range 25-40 hrs a week cumulatively based on contractor’s capacity during active program months and may vary throughout the year.
Business Coach will provide cohort-based training, coaching and one-to-one business advising to assist individuals to develop business plans, startup costs, cash flow/financial projections/financial management, market research, growth and marketing strategies, human resource advice, business entity guidance, business pitch preparation and knowledge with assisting small businesses with financial applications, loan, grants, and pandemic relief programs and more.
While we are located in Michigan and have a higher demand for Michigan based providers, due to varying projects, some positions may be in other states, be fully remote, while some may require in-person services. Global Entrepreneurship Business Lab (GEBL) seeks experienced translators and interpreters with professional capability in translating reading material and researching industry-specific terminology, converting text and audio recordings in one language to one or more others, while ensuring translated texts conveys original meaning and tone.
As a Translator, your responsibilities will include carefully reading and comprehending the context of the given material, utilizing specialized dictionaries and translation tools, and meticulously proofreading the final translations. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail and fluency in at least two additional languages, in addition to your native language.
Your primary objective will be to deliver high-quality translated content that aligns with our internal requirements and enables us to effectively engage a broader audience.
